Baby Showers - Pregnant with Pinterest

Baby showers, man. A real fertile DIY landscape. Ripe with crafting opportunity. Bursting with so many crafts you'll have to breathe your way through it. We all see what I’m doing here.

So let’s make a couple?! Specifically, a diaper cake and some baby ice cubes. Because for every normal craft we make here at Crafty Hour, we have to make one that makes you question why you get invited to things.

Get that labor breathing ready because nothing makes you feel better about throwing your younger sister a baby shower than failing at some crafts!

What you'll Need for a Diaper Cake:

Newborn size diapers

Markers

Ribbon

Rubber bands of various sizes

Bottle of wine

Various baby toys

Toothpicks

Cake Tray

What you'll Need for Baby on the Rocks

Miniature babies

Ice cube trays

White Wine

Sparkling Water

Disclaimers!

The cake is hard to do alone. So, try and corral/guilt some friends or family members to help you.

You can add whatever you want to the cake as far as toys go. So feel free to go nuts in Marshall's NO ONE'S TOO GOOD FOR MARSHALL'S™

The baby ice cubes are a pretty huge choking hazard so, keep that in mind. Oops!

Let’s birth some crafts!

1.) Decorate your diapers! This is where you can really let those puns RIP GET IT.

2.) Roll the diapers into...rolls? I don't know how else to describe it. Then rubber band them to hold the shape.

I mean, what would you call them?

I mean, what would you call them?

3.) Start building the rolled diapers around your bottle of wine. Basically you're going to create tiers. Oh also, we found it easiest to build it on a cake tray/whatever kind of tray - it gives you structure and helps with transportation and other reasons whatever.

4.) Once you feel happy with the size of your tiers, rubber band them all together (this is where you'll need two people). We just built out to the size of the tray, which somehow totally worked out. Weird.

5.) From here, just keep building your tiers and rubber banding them together. You want each tier to be smaller than the one below it. So it looks like a cake, ya know?

6.) So, this is where things took an unexpected turn but don't worry yo, we got this down. We ran out of space for the top tier, so we just threw some butt paste up there and built the top tier around it. With some help from toothpicks.

7.) Now decorate with stuff like ribbons and weird elephant plush toys that you want for yourself?

8.) Hooray, you're done! Now you just have to transport it to the shower, and that's on you.

Part II - Let's make Babies on the Rocks

yikes.

yikes.

1.) Put your miniature baby things in an ice cube tray. Fill it with water, freeze. Put in your drinks!

Why turn back now?

2.) Feel weird! Take pictures!

I'll have a rum and coke, extra baby.

Speaking of Baby Drinks....Part III

AKA Drinky Drinky Time!

Baby On The Rocks

3/4 glass super-chilled white wine

1/4 glass super-chilled club soda

Slice of lime

Baby Ice Cubes

Pour all that stuff into a glass. Drink up knowing that you can actually drink at this party :) Together we'll get through this!

This is a weird picture, and not just cuz of the babies?

Well I have a rule that once a picture of babies floating in water enters a blog, it's time to wrap it up. I hope you enjoyed this weeks(ish) Crafty Hour and it brings you hours of friendship happiness.

Until next time.....
