I Can't Embroider Cork Board Crafts

Guess what. I can’t embroider. I know, who would have thought? (Everyone who knows me). Guess what else. I didn’t even know how to spell embroider until I wrote this post. And even then, I don’t know if that’s correct. Is it embroidering or embroider? I have no idea. Whatever.

You know what I can do? Trace and cut out circles like a CHAMP. And that’s all you really need to do for this craft. That and gluing. Which are all easy words to spell.

We're making that circle thing.

We're making that circle thing.

Does any of this make sense yet? We’re making embroidery cork boards. And sangria. That’s why I was talking about embroidering. Make sense now? Probably not. Hooray for good writing.

What you need for Embroidery Hoop Cork Boards:

Embroidery hoops

Scissors

Hot glue

Fabric/leftover t-shirts

Cork

Nail holder things

Card stock

What You Need for Champagne Sangria

Triple sec

Brandy

Rum

Vodka

Chopped up fruit (apple, mango, tangerine, pear, peach)

Champagne (cuz, ya know, it has a cork?)

Disclaimers!

You can use any size embroider hoops that you want, obviously. You can also use old tshirts (rather than fabric, which was my personal favorite and that's all that matters because this is my blog so deal).

I wish there was a shorter name for Embroidery Hoop Cork Boards. It just takes so long to type.

Holy Corky Ramano, let’s do it.

1.) Pick what size embroidery hoop you want to use. Then pick the fabric or old tshirt you'd like to see stretched through said hoop.

2.) Trace and cut a piece of cardstock to the actual size of your hoop. Well, actually a little smaller. Think of the hoop as your frame and the cardstock as the..cardstock that goes behind the frame. We get this, right? Am I done?

3.) Do the same thing with your cork board.

I'M SO GOOD AT CIRCLES.

4.) Ok, so now you're going to measure and cut your fabric. You want to make sure the fabric is big enough to slide through the hoop and be pinned to the cardboard on the back. So, add an extra two inches to the side. We used a 12 inch circle. Make sense?

That second line is just me messing up. Because I'm not good at drawing circles, actually.

But maybe I'm not too bad at cutting them!

5.) Pull your fabric through the hoops! You may have to unscrew/loosen the hoops a bit to get your fabric through. Just make sure to rescrew (ha) again when you’re done.

Yippeeeee.

6.) Put a cork in it! Haaa. Sorry, "Now place the cork in."

7.) And then put the cardstock in behind that.

8.)  Glue the fabric onto the cardstock.

Somebody call Patrick Duffy because this is what I call a Step-By-Step.

9.) Attach those sawtooth nail holders to the back of the board. By gluing it to the cardstock. You don't need a picture of that.

10.) Pin stuff on them and hang them around your home! And then take a lot of pics!

Yay!

Yay!

Part II – A Somewhat Forced Cork Themed Drink In Attempts To Keep It Consistent And Relevant.

AKA Drinky Drinky time!

Champagne Sangria:

3oz triple sec

3oz brandy

2oz rum

2oz vodka

Chopped up fruit (apple, mango, tangerine, pear, peach, strawberry)

1 750ml bottle Champagne

Combine the Triple Sec, Brandy Rum, Vodka and fruit into a large bowl and let sit for a long ass time. Anywhere from a few hours to overnight. But preferably overnight. Add in the champagne before serving so it doesn’t go flat. Put it in a glass and enjoy! Hopefully with delightfully warm Denver spring weather.

Better bring some friends!

Better bring some friends!

Well I have a rule that once a jug of various forms of alcohol enters a blog, it’s time to wrap it up. I hope you enjoyed this week’s Crafty Hour and that it brings you hours of friendship happiness.
